AES British Section Committee

We are the British Section of the Audio Engineering Society, an international organisation dedicated to audio engineering. For more than sixty years, the Society has provided the industry with a framework and forum for the advancement of the science and art of audio.

Tim Cockram

Tim Cockram is an electronics engineer, who has over 25 years of experience in the public service and commercial sector broadcasters, with 14 years at board level.  He has designed complete broadcast facilities in the UK and US, and a wide variety of audio equipment and systems.

He is professionally active in the transmission arena with special interests in the enhancement of digital audio broadcasting and the application of audio processing to increase the efficiency of large AM transmitters.

After graduating in Bio-Medical Electronics, he worked in the medical research, aerospace and education sectors.  Tim joined the broadcast sector following a commission to design an audio processor for an ‘event’ radio station.

Tim’s passion for all things audio extends beyond his professional life; he is re-imagining several vintage electronic musical instruments using a combination of historical and contemporary technology.

He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
