25th AES UK Conference: Spatial Audio in Today’s 3D World

The AES 25th UK Conference: Spatial Audio in Today’s 3D World and 4th International Symposium on Ambisonics and Spherical Acoustics is a joint event being staged by the AES British Section and the Music Research Centre at the University of York. It will be held on 25th-27th March 2012 at the University of York’s Music Research Centre and Ron Cooke Hub.
This conference and symposium is devoted to the current state-of-the-art and recent advances in spatial audio and spherical acoustics, with emphasis on its application to audio and music practice.
The programme, containing 15 papers and 2 workshops, can be viewed here. A keynote speaker will be announced shortly.
The conference takes place in the Rymer Auditorium, part of the University of York’s Music Research Centre, on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th March. A pre-conference event (included in the registration fee) is planned for mid- to late-afternoon on Sunday 25th. More details about this will be published shortly.
Alongside the papers will be a Poster Session. This will be located in the foyer of the Rymer Auditorium where teas/coffees and the buffet lunch will be served. A list of the Posters can be viewed here.
For those booking flights or specific trains, the pre-conference event on Sunday is expected to begin at about 3.30pm and the conference will close by 5.15pm on Tuesday.
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
We have endeavoured to contain costs for this event to reflect the current economic climate and provide the best possible value for delegates.
Fees for attending the conference will be £175 for AES members, £195 for members of affiliated organisations (see registration form for a list of these) and £260 for non-members, all subject to 20% UK VAT. A limited number of places will be available to AES student members at a special concessionary rate of £95 +VAT.
The registration fee includes the pre-conference event on Sunday late afternoon/early evening (exact times to be confirmed), buffet-style lunches on Monday and Tuesday, coffees and teas during breaks, and a drinks reception after Monday afternoon’s session. A dinner on Monday evening is planned but this will be an optional extra.
DEMO ROOMS & TABLE TOPS
Demonstration rooms and table tops are available for companies wishing to exhibit at the conference, with a reduced charge offered to AES UK Sustaining Members. Please use the contact form to request more information from the AES Secretariat.
ACCOMMODATION
Student-style accommodation on the university campus is available for £42 +VAT (£50.40) per night, including breakfast and in-room wired Internet access. On-campus accommodation is limited so early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.
There are also numerous hotels and guest houses in the York area at a range of prices.
